Man convicted of 1st-degree murder in Colorado Springs sentenced to life in prison


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — A man convicted of first-degree murder in Colorado Springs has been sentenced to life in prison.

The Gazette reports ( ) 32-year-old Brian Springsted was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder in the death of 37-year-old Daniel Baird in May. In addition to the life term, Springsted was sentenced to 16 years for conspiring to commit the murder.

He is one of three defendants in the case. Michael Malory and 25-year-old Nathan Varnadore are set to be tried for the murder next year.
