Former NJ State. Sen. Wayne Bryant's latest corruption trial wrapping up

TRENTON, N.J. — Former New Jersey state Sen. Wayne Bryant's second corruption trial is wrapping up.

The case is expected to go to a judge on Tuesday. The Democrat from Lawnside had requested a judge rule on the case instead of a jury.

The 64-year-old is accused of taking $192,000 in bribes in exchange for backing redevelopment projects in Camden, Pennsauken and the Meadowlands between 2004 and 2006.

The projects, all run by the North Carolina redevelopment firm Cherokee, were never completed.

Bryant is already in federal prison from a 2008 conviction on charges that he took a low-show pension padding job in exchange for steering state aid to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
