NEW YORK — Police have arrested a Staten Island woman after firefighters discovered the body of her 80-year-old husband after putting out a fire at their home.

Authorities responded to the Victory Boulevard house Wednesday afternoon after receiving a report of a garage fire.

Police say fire officials discovered the victim, Frank Baldassarre, inside a bathtub with trauma to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested his 67-year-old wife, Antionetta Baldassarre, on second-degree murder charges.

They say she was found in the garage inside a car. She was listed in stable condition after being taken to a hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

It was not immediately known if she had a lawyer.
