UMATILLA, Oregon — The Oregon Corrections Department says a 53-year-old inmate at a state prison in northeast Oregon died unexpectedly Thursday.

The agency says Dean Wayne Guiley was found unresponsive at about 7 a.m. in his housing unit at Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The Oregon State Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the death.

Guiley was serving time for three counts of kidnapping and one count of assault out of Lane County. His earliest release date was January 2043.

The Twin Rivers prison is a medium- and minimum-security facility that houses approximately 1,800 male inmates.
