GADSDEN, Alabama — Authorities say an Etowah County inmate accused of using a county truck to drive away from a work detail assignment has been captured.

Etowah County Sheriff Entrekin said 41-year-old prisoner Robert Wesley James of Attalla walked away from a judicial building around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, then drove off in a county maintenance department truck.

Sheriff's officials later announced that he had been apprehended, and that further details would be released later.

Authorities said James faces charges that include burglary and theft. He had been working under the supervision of the county maintenance department at the time he was accused of escaping from custody.
