Seward chef Kevin Lane wins the Alaska seafood cook off

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Six chefs from around Alaska competed in the second annual "Great Alaska Seafood Cook Off," hosted by the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute.

One of them is headed to New Orleans for the next round of competition.

KTUU-TV (http://is.gd/nUWYuJ) reports that the winning chef on Wednesday was Kevin Lane from "Chinook's Waterfront" in Seward. He took the top spot with his "Sourdough Crusted Sablefish" recipe.

The chefs from Anchorage, Homer, Hoonah and Seward had just one hour to prepare and plate a dish that highlighted Alaska seafood. Chef Mandy Dixon of the "La Baleine Café" in Homer and Chef Robert Lewis of Maxine's Fireweed Bistro in Anchorage tied for second place.

The competition was held at the Bill Sheffield Railroad Depot at the Anchorage airport.
