CASPER, Wyoming — The Wyoming Highway Patrol says two people were arrested after troopers seized 25 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop east of Evanston.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1wYNzIA ) 41-year-old Gerald Nichols and 24-year-old Stephanie Martin were pulled over for speeding on Interstate 80 on Monday. Troopers say they smelled marijuana inside the car, and a search turned up 25 pounds of the drug with an estimated street value of $125,000.

Investigators believe the two were taking the pot from Oakland, California, to Madison, Wisconsin.

Nichols and Martin are being held in the Uinta County Jail on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. A call to the jail by The Associated Press to determine if they had hired an attorney went unanswered Wednesday night.
