2 injured at 3-alarm Kent apartment fire; man, woman jump from balcony


KENT, Washington — Two people were injured and nearly 30 residents were displaced at a three-alarm apartment fire early Friday in Kent.

Firefighters responded about 2 a.m. to the Mosaic Hills apartment complex. It took crews more than two hours to put out the fire as part of the roof collapsed.

Residents told KOMO ( ) they were awakened by neighbors pounding on the doors. Most got out safely but a man and woman had to jump from a third-story balcony. The woman reportedly broke her arm, her legs and had teeth knocked out. The man reportedly broke his legs and collarbone.

The Red Cross says it is helping residents of about 20 units that were burned, damaged by smoke and water or left without electricity.
