MISSOULA, Montana — Missoula County officials have released the name of a 42-year-old Lolo man who died after being shot in the chest, apparently while he cleaned a gun.

The coroner's office tells the Missoulian (http://bit.ly/1xgTqHr ) the victim was Jeff Paul Geneau.

The sheriff's office said Tuesday that Geneau was cleaning a revolver that morning when the weapon discharged, hitting him in the chest. He died a short time later at the hospital.

The coroner's office is still investigating, so a cause and manner of death have not been released.
