BILLINGS, Mont. — A 44-year-old transient has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in the severe beating of another transient at a Billings motel over a $5 beer debt.
The Billings Gazette (http://bit.ly/Jog4Ut ) reports Joseph Allen "Flip" Wilson was sentenced Tuesday by District Judge G. Todd Baugh. Wilson pleaded guilty in January to felony aggravated assault by accountability.
A co-defendant, Justin Hale Jr., is serving a 10-year term for aggravated assault for the April 2011 attack that prosecutors say inflicted near-fatal injuries on 44-year-old Randall Glasser.
Prosecutors alleged Glasser was asleep when Hale began hitting him. Wilson admitted joining the attack. Glasser also was stabbed in the abdomen, but neither Hale nor Wilson admitted inflicting that wound.
Wilson's criminal record includes 31 misdemeanors and one felony conviction for burglary.
