Troopers: Woman, 67, dies in snowmobile accident; lost control on difficult section of trail

BETHEL, Vermont — Vermont State Troopers say a 67-year-old woman has died after losing control of her snowmobile.

They say Dorothy Wilson was riding alone on private property in Bethel around 3:30 p.m. Sunday when she apparently lost control in a difficult section of the trail and struck a log. She was fatally injured after being thrown from the vehicle.

Troopers say she was wearing a helmet and proper riding gear. They report that freezing rain and snow were falling at the time of the accident.

The Chief Medical Examiner's Office is investigating the death.
