GASTONIA, North Carolina — Gastonia police are investigating the death of a 28-year-old woman as a possible hit and run.

Police told local media that Tamesha Beam, 28, of Gastonia was found around 5:30 a.m. Sunday along a ramp on Interstate 85.

Beam's sister told police that she had seen Beam about an hour before finding her body.

Police said the women were getting a ride home from Charlotte early Sunday when there was an argument. The driver pulled over and all three people got out of the car.

Beam's sister told police she walked home. The driver said she saw another vehicle come down the ramp and heard a noise, but did not see Beam. The driver then got back into her vehicle and left.

That woman and Beam's sister talked about an hour later and discovered they did not know where Beam was. They returned to the ramp and found her body on the side of the road.
