LEXINGTON, Kentucky — A 63-year-old Fayette County jail inmate has died after being found unresponsive in his cell, the second inmate from that jail to die this week.

A news release from the city said the man was pronounced dead at 10:30 a.m. Friday at University of Kentucky Hospital. He had been in jail since Tuesday on charges of cocaine possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and minor traffic offenses.

The county coroner's office identified the man as Otha Buchanan of Lexington. An autopsy is scheduled.

The city said a corrections officer found the man unresponsive in his cell at 9:48 a.m. at the Lexington-Fayette County Detention Center, and he was taken to the hospital at 10 a.m.

The city said the death didn't appear to be suspicious.

On Tuesday, 46-year-old Steve W. Lieras was found unresponsive in his cell and died about a half-hour later at the hospital.
