WELCH, West Virginia — Reconnecting McDowell has hired an architect to design housing for public school teachers in the county.
The public-private partnership plans to build a Teachers Village in downtown Welch.
Reconnecting McDowell says Community Housing Partners Design Studio will design the housing project. The firm will present options to the partnership's board at its Dec. 17 meeting in Charleston. An option will be chosen after the meeting.
McDowell County school superintendent Nelson Spencer tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph (http://bit.ly/181Aylh ) that the housing project will be a tool for the county to recruit and retain teachers.
