10 cited for disorderly conduct after brawl at Jefferson High in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Ten teenagers have been cited for disorderly conduct after a fight at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids.

No serious injuries were reported in Monday's brawl. Police say it started when an 18-year-old female, who isn't a student at Jefferson, came to the school to fight with students about an incident that happened over the weekend.

The fight broke out in the main hall by the office. Nine females and one male were charged with disorderly conduct.

District spokeswoman Marcia Hughes says the fight happened between classes and students were kept in the classrooms for a few extra minutes until the situation was under control.
