GREENWOOD, South Carolina — Authorities say a 42-year-old woman has been charged with murder in the death of her mother in the Greenwood home they shared.

Police told media outlets that someone called 911 to report a disturbance at the home Friday morning and when officers arrived, they found Elaine Williams dead.

The coroner's office says an autopsy determined Williams died from blows to the head.

Police say Keisha Patterson was charged with murder shortly after her mother's body was found. She is being held in the Greenwood County jail and it wasn't known if she had a lawyer.
