Cousins fighting over Civil War artifacts consider displaying medals, prison key at VA clinic

BOWLING GREEN, OhioOhio cousins feuding over ownership of Civil War artifacts plan to ask whether the items could be displayed at a Veterans Affairs clinic being built near Toledo.

Timberlake resident Albert Ward and Linda Schwartz of Perrysburg are fighting over who has more of a right to a key from a Confederate prison and two Congressional Medals of Honor from Sgt. Wilson W. Brown. Ward and Schwartz are descendants of Brown.

He says family members believe that would be a good home for the items and allow many veterans to see them.

Ward's lawyer tells The Blade in Toledo (http://bit.ly/JLDhS6 ) that both sides met for mediation last week and will ask about displaying the items at the VA clinic. He says family members believe that would be a good home for the items and allow many veterans to see them.

The newspaper says an attorney for Schwartz didn't return a call.
