Authorities search for Inmate who escaped from work center in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY, Alabama — Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Red Eagle Work Center.

The Alabama Department of Corrections said in a news release that 50-year-old Samuel Garrett walked away from his assigned job location around 1 p.m. on Friday. Officials say Garrett was last seen wearing his prison-issued white clothing.

Garrett is described as black man, with brown eyes, black hair, weighing 201 pounds and standing at 5-foot-10. He was serving a life sentence on a 1994 second degree receiving stolen property conviction.
