Deputies: Resident shoots intruder inside New Port Richey home

NEW PORT RICHEY, Florida — Pasco County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the shooting of an intruder who attacked a man inside his New Port Richey home.

Investigators say 55-year-old Michael Farrell shot 35-year-old Chris Wehunt as the two struggled early Wednesday. Wehunt was shot multiple times and was taken to a hospital. He's expected to recover from his wounds.

Deputies questioned Farrell but did not arrest him.

An investigation continues.

No further details were immediately available.
