Loveland man pleads guilty to attempted extortion in scheme targeting suspected pedophiles

FORT COLLINS, Colorado — A Loveland man accused of conspiring with his girlfriend to rob a suspected pedophile and kidnap his daughter has pleaded guilty to attempted extortion.

Attorney Patrick Esser tells the Coloradoan (http://noconow.co/12gUKaK) his client Dustin Canup accepted the plea agreement with prosecutors Tuesday. Co-defendant Sareena Morrison has not yet entered a plea.

According to arrest affidavits, the couple told investigators of a scheme in which they would monitor a pornographic website to find men who wanted Morrison to engage in sex acts with children, then would try to extort or rob the men. The affidavits allege the two said they planned to kidnap the daughter of one target and raise her as their own.

Canup is scheduled to be sentenced June 18.
