Ballwin says no to possible city-county merger in St. Louis

BALLWIN, Missouri — Elected leaders in the St. Louis suburb of Ballwin want no part of a possible unification of St. Louis city and county governments.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch ( ) reports that the Ballwin Board of Aldermen approved a resolution Monday opposing a possible local government merger. The vote was 6-0.

The resolution says that the pro-merger group Better Together has shown no clear evidence that a merger would benefit the region as a whole.

St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay and St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley are among the civic leaders pushing for unification through the new nonpartisan group.
