MISANO ADRIATICO, Italy — Jorge Lorenzo broke his own lap record to secure pole position for Sunday's San Marino Grand Prix where he will be looking for a fourth MotoGP win at the Misano circuit.
Reigning champion Marc Marquez and championship leader Valentino Rossi complete the front row, with all three finishing within 0.25 seconds of each other.
Lorenzo, who had broken Marc Marquez's record in practice on Friday, went under his own time of 1 minute, 32.871 seconds to set a new fastest lap of 1:32.146.
Marquez was 0.106 behind Lorenzo, who finished 0.212 ahead of his Yamaha teammate Rossi.
Rossi will be looking to make it back-to-back wins at his home grand prix. The Italian tops the standings on 236 points, a lead of 12 from Lorenzo.
