The senators were departing Friday for a weeklong trip. Both senators will visit Israel and the West Bank, and Kaine will also visit Egypt.
In Israel, they'll visit an air defense battery and meet with the prime minister, defense minister, justice minister and chief negotiator for Israel-Palestinian peace talks. In the West Bank, the senators plan to meet with the Palestinian Authority president, prime minister and chief peace negotiator.
Kaine, a Democrat, is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee on near eastern and central and south Asian affairs and a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. King, an independent, is a member of the Senate Armed Services and Intelligence committees.
