Dacono preparing for medical marijuana businesses again after voters repeal dispensary ban

DACONO, Colorado — Dacono (dah-KOH'-noh) is getting ready for medical marijuana businesses once again, now that voters have backed a repeal of a citywide ban on the shops.

Three dispensaries in Dacono closed after a ban approved by City Council took effect Jan. 1. The Times-Call reports (http://bit.ly/148tFIb) voters supported repealing the ban in a special election Tuesday, allowing up to three medical dispensaries to open. The three former dispensaries have a 90-day head start to apply to be among the three.

Results of the election will be certified Monday.

The ballot proposal that repealed the ban also set rules that dispensaries will have to follow, including requirements to maintain security cameras and burglar alarms and to allow city inspections. Dispensary application and license fees weren't immediately set.
