Teen killed driving home from music festival in Gulfport

PERKINSTON, Miss. — Officials say a 19-year-old teenager from Stone County has died in a single-car accident.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/KHeZW6) that Grant Lowery Hickman, 19, of Perkinston, died early Saturday morning, according to Coroner Wayne Flurry. Flurry says Hickman was about two miles from his home.

Officials say he veered off the road and his truck flipped several times and hit a tree.

He was listed in serious condition Saturday, Flurry said.

A passenger was taken to Stone County Hospital and then transferred to University Medical Center in Jackson. He was listed in serious condition Saturday, Flurry said.

The newspaper reports that toxicology reports indicated Hickman's blood-alcohol level was .224, nearly three times higher than the .08 limit, Flurry said.

His friends said he was driving home from the Gulfport Music Festival.
