ELIZABETH, New Jersey — Authorities say a street shooting in northern New Jersey has left one man dead and another person wounded.

Union County prosecutors say 32-year-old Michael Gibbs, of Beverly, was shot shortly before 6 p.m. Monday in the area of Jackson Avenue and Bond Street in Elizabeth. Gibbs was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The wounded victim, identified only as an Elizabeth resident, was being treated at a hospital for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Further details on the shooting were not disclosed, including what type of weapon was used and how many shooters may have been involved. No arrests have been made.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
