Family of man shot by DeKalb County police request GBI investigation

DECATUR, Georgia — The family of a man shot and killed by DeKalb County police wants state investigators to examine the case.

WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1yTlHkk ) prosecutors are now reviewing the Dec. 29 shooting that killed Kevin Davis.

DeKalb County officials said police went to an apartment for a report of a stabbing. An officer shot and killed a pit bull that ran at him. Authorities said the officer then shot Davis because Davis refused to put down a gun.

Davis' sister, Delisa Davis, said the family doesn't believe that account and wants the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to looking into the case.

The county's public safety director, Cedric Alexander, said he will request GBI assistance once the prosecutor finishes a review.
