JAMESTOWN, Rhode Island — Rhode Island U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and other state leaders are celebrating the opening of new affordable housing for adults with special needs in Jamestown.
Whitehouse, state Treasurer Gina Raimondo and state Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed traveled to Jamestown on Friday to mark the completion of Hammett Court Apartments.
The apartments also have nearby space for employment training for residents. They're intended to help disabled adults who otherwise might have a hard time finding affordable housing.
Paiva Weed says the new apartments will serve some of the community's most vulnerable residents while helping them remain independent.
