FDNY: 67-year-old woman dies after fire breaks out in her Bronx apartment


NEW YORK — A 67-year-old woman who had difficulty moving because of a stroke died after a fire tore through her Bronx apartment.

Fire officials say Delores Townsend died Friday from severe burns after she was pulled from the blaze.

Her daughter told the Daily News of New York ( ) that the woman was alone because her home attendant had left for the day. The daughter said Townsend had at least five strokes.

Fire officials say the fire was confined to the bedroom and it was under investigation.

They say it didn't appear to be suspicious.
