FRANKFORT, Kentucky — A Lexington businesswoman and education advocate has hired consultants in preparation for a race against U.S. Rep. Andy Barr.
Elisabeth Jensen said Wednesday that she has hired people to do polling, media, finance, research and strategy.
The 48-year-old would be making her first bid for public office, though she has served as a volunteer in the past in the campaigns of Gov. Steve Beshear, state Sen. Robin Webb, state Rep. Susan Westrom and former U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler.
Jensen would be facing a freshman lawmaker if she runs. Barr defeated Chandler last year to win the congressional seat representing Lexington and a large swath of central and eastern Kentucky.
Jensen launched her campaign by filing paperwork with the Federal Election Commission last week.
