CULVER, Indiana — Authorities in northern Indiana have recovered the body of a swimmer who was missing for at least four hours before his companions noticed.

Indiana conservation officers say 28-year-old Jose Cruz Lizcano went missing Friday night while swimming in Lake Maxincukee, south of South Bend.

The man's friends called police after they found his shoes near the water's edge.

Divers and search teams using sonar found the Logansport man's body in about 15 feet of water off a public beach. The man was found about 9:30 p.m., about 30 minutes his friends called police.

A statement by conservation officers says an autopsy is expected.
