Dunn scores 22 points as Providence holds on to beat Rhode Island 68-60

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — Kris Dunn scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Providence held on to beat Rhode Island 68-60 on Wednesday night.

Tyler Harris had 17 points, three rebounds and four assists for the Friars (7-3). LaDontae Henton chipped in 15 points.

After trailing 31-26 at the break, the Rams (5-3) moved ahead to lead by one, 34-33, early in the second. But the Friars quickly responded with Dunn, Harris and Henton mounting an 11-4 run to a 44-38 Providence edge with 12:24 remaining. With 44 seconds to play, the Rams' Jared Terrell drained a 3-pointer to bring Rhode Island to within three, 63-60, before Dunn dunked and made 3 of 4 from the line to close out the game and seal the win for the Friars.

E.C. Matthews scored 27 points for the Rhode Island. Hassan Martin added 12 points and five rebounds.
