FORT DODGE, Iowa — Authorities are searching for a Webster County inmate who escaped with another while doing laundry at the jail in Fort Dodge.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports that (http://bit.ly/1BJR055 ) 43-year-old Jason Sullivan and 32-year-old George Johnson escaped Thursday night.

The sheriff's office says the men apparently moved a dryer so they could reach a locked room behind it. Once there they enlarged a vent so they could deploy some sheets they'd tied together. The makeshift rope reached part way down into an alley, where they dropped to the ground.

The office says Johnson was injured and was taken back into custody at a hospital. Sullivan was still being sought.
