Cops: Man whose body was found behind vacant Syracuse home was shot; case ruled a homicide

SYRACUSE, New York — Police say a 21-year-old man whose body was found behind a vacant Syracuse house had died of a gunshot wound.

Officials say the body of Jarvis Shields was found around 1 p.m. Wednesday behind a home on West Bissell Street.

Police say an autopsy conducted by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office determined Shields had been shot. Officials say his death has been ruled a homicide.

No other information has been released.
