Egg Drop wins feature at Betfair Hollywood Park in turf debut; Gomez falls in race

INGLEWOOD, California — Egg Drop was successful in her turf debut, winning the $57,842 feature by three-quarters of a length at Betfair Hollywood Park on Friday.

Ridden by Martin Garcia, Egg Drop ran six furlongs in 1:09.29 and paid $14.80, $7 and $4.80.

Hidinginplainsight returned $4.20 and $3.20 as the 5-2 favorite. Conkate was another 2 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $4.40 to show.

Egg Drop has three wins in eight career starts and earnings of $134,020.

Jockey Garrett Gomez was involved in a spill in the first race. He was unseated after Randino ducked into the rail while leading inside the final eighth of a mile in the colt's 2-year-old debut. Randino had to be euthanized. Gomez was briefly hospitalized and later released, but took off his final four mounts on the card.
