Attorney general's office says grand jury planned in state Medicaid contract investigation

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Attorney General Buddy Caldwell has asked a Baton Rouge judge to block access to records requested by a company whose $200 million Medicaid contract was canceled by the state.

In a court filing Wednesday, Caldwell's staff told Judge Tim Kelley the records requests by Client Network Services Inc., or CNSI, should not be granted because a grand jury soon was to be impaneled to review evidence in an ongoing investigation involving the contract.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/14qfzlB ) that Lewis Unglesby, attorney for CNSI, said the company looks forward to defend the legitimacy of its contract in court.

Gov. Bobby Jindal's administration canceled CNSI's contract after news broke about a federal grand jury investigation into the deal. Jindal health secretary Bruce Greenstein, a former CNSI vice president, resigned a week later.
