CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — One person is dead and two others have been taken to the hospital following a head-on collision in Cedar Rapids.

Authorities say two vehicles were involved in the wreck Wednesday. Police say the driver of one of the vehicles, 53-year-old Jonathan Dale, of Mount Vernon, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people in the other vehicle, 59-year-old Jennifer Wertz and 62-year-old Thomas Wertz, both of Cedar Rapids, were taken to UnityPoint, a St. Luke's Hospital, for treatment of injuries considered not to be life-threatening.

Police say Dale was driving the wrong way down a street when he struck the other vehicle. The collision remains under investigation.
