SYRACUSE, New York — Syracuse University's next chancellor is getting a taste of student dorm life before moving into his new digs.
The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (http://bit.ly/1k5XlMt ) that Kent Syverud (SIHV'-uh-rood) has moved into a student residence hall that houses more than 750 first-year students and features a fitness center and a Burger King.
Syverud says that staying in a hotel for two weeks seemed like a waste when he could spend that time getting a better idea of what it's like to be a student at Syracuse.
An email sent to dorm residents alerted them that the new chancellor was in the house.
He and his wife plan to live in the chancellor's residence in Syracuse.
The 56-year-old Syverud was named Syracuse chancellor in October. He starts his new job next month.
