Birmingham police investigating after juvenile shot after leaving party; victim hospitalized

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Police are investigating the shooting of a juvenile who was leaving a party in Birmingham.

Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/1D0LABU ) the victim was among a large group of young people leaving a party in the Ensely area of Birmingham late Friday when he was shot in the back. Police say the gunfire came from the open window of a vehicle.

Birmingham police Sgt. Matthew Self says the victim was taken to UAB Hospital with potentially serious injuries. The victim's name and age were not immediately released.

No arrests have been announced in the shooting.
