NORTHAMPTON, Massachusetts — A West Springfield man has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $74,000 from the electrical supply and lighting company where he worked to fuel his drug and alcohol addictions.
The Daily Hampshire Gazette (http://bit.ly/1frztXK ) reports that Christopher Foley pleaded guilty Wednesday to larceny over $250 and making false entries in corporate books for funneling company money into his bank account from 2009 to 2012 while a branch manager at a Hampden Zimmerman Electrical Supply store in Northampton.
Under terms of a plea deal, the 39-year-old Foley will serve most of a six-month jail sentence on weekends so he can work as an electrician to pay full restitution. He repaid $10,000 on Wednesday. He also received seven years of probation.
His lawyer says Foley has been sober for about two years.
