SAVANNAH, Georgia — Police in Savannah are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a car.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police say 59-year-old Cynthia Denise Bridges was hit by the car on Abercorn Street late Saturday night. She was later pronounced dead at Memorial University Medical Center.

Police said in a statement that Bridges was crossing the eastbound lanes of Abercorn when she was struck by a 2004 Dodge Neon driven east by a 20-year-old Savannah woman. Police say Bridges was outside of the crosswalk and wearing dark clothing when she was struck.
