Police: Man shot after charging at Vegas officers with knife over his head

LAS VEGAS — Authorities say a 31-year-old man who was shot by a Las Vegas police officer had been charging at them with a large knife raised over his head.

Police offered more details Tuesday about the incident that sent suspect Kyle Kuhn to the hospital on Monday afternoon.

Officials say they were responding to a domestic disturbance call on Calico Fields Street and found a man behind a vehicle wearing a mask, hat and sunglasses. Police say they gave the man verbal commands, but he ignored them and headed toward them with a knife.

Officers say they fired a low-impact shotgun and a handgun to try and stop the man, who fell to the ground and was taken to the hospital.

He faces charges of resisting an officer, assault and battery.
