PHOENIX — In a story May 10 about a federal civil rights lawsuit against an Arizona sheriff, The Associated Press, relying on information from the US Department of Justice, erroneously reported the outcome of a Justice Department civil rights lawsuit against the Columbus Division of Police. The lawsuit was dismissed in 2002 at the request of DoJ after the city made improvements.
"The reason he has been digging in his heels is because he doesn't want this to come out," she said. "Once we're in trial and it all comes out, it will be an opportunity for all of this to be exposed. The voters will see it."
