Car crashed into Long Island house, injuring driver, passenger

NORTH AMITYVILLE, New York — Police say a car crashed into a house on Long Island, injuring the driver and her passenger.

It happened at 5:15 a.m. Friday on Matthew Drive in North Amityville.

Suffolk County police say the 56-year-old driver and a 57-year-old passenger — both of Massapequa — were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The home residents were not hurt.

Police say the driver was going east on Joyce Avenue when she lost control of the car, striking a chain-link fence and then the house.

They say the building sustained structural damage.

No summonses were issued.
