Denver officer hurt; school secured as police hunt for suspect


DENVER — Authorities say a Denver police officer has been injured while trying to arrest a man, and security has been increased at a school while other officers hunt for the suspect.

The Denver Post reports ( ) the officer might have suffered a broken arm in the confrontation in southeast Denver Wednesday afternoon. Police haven't said how it happened.

Cherry Creek School District says Challenge School was placed on secured perimeter, with exterior doors locked but normal activities continuing. The school is about three-quarters of a mile from where the incident occurred.

The suspect was wanted on a parole violation. Neither the officer nor the suspect have been identified.
