A Montana State Prison inmate who was serving life in prison for shooting a Marine to death during a carjacking has died at a hospital in Missoula

MISSOULA, Montana — A Montana State Prison inmate who was serving life in prison for shooting a Marine to death during a carjacking has died at a hospital in Missoula.

The Missoulian reports (http://goo.gl/QwCTnZ ) 44-year-old Zyzmick Tregeagle, who was recently moved to Providence St. Patrick Hospital, died Tuesday. An autopsy has been ordered.

He was sentenced in October 1997 in Coos County, Oregon, to life without parole for killing 21-year-old Marine Lance Cpl. Ronald L. Shellenbarger.

Tregeagle was moved to the Montana prison in April 2007.
