GREENVILLE, South Carolina — Two men have been sentenced to prison in the 2004 shooting death of a third man in Greenville.
Solicitor Walt Wilkins says 34-year-old Garcia Wilson and 38-year-old Michael Hockaday were each sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison. Both had pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter charges.
The men were arrested in 2010 and initially charged with murder in the death of 20-year-old Curtis D. Harmon. Deputies had thought Harmon died in an August 2004 wreck but later determined he had been shot.
Authorities say Wilson and Hockaday had planned to steal marijuana from Harmon and that Wilson shot him during a fight.
After he was shot, Wilkins says Harmon drove his car about a quarter of a mile before hitting a tree.
