Pedestrian struck, killed while trying to cross street in Prince George's County

FORT WASHINGTON, Maryland — Prince George's County Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed when she tried to cross a street in Fort Washington.

It happened about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at Bock and Kingsway roads. Officers say 62-year-old Maxine Thompson of Fort Washington was trying to cross Bock Road when she was struck by a westbound van,

Authorities say Thompson, who was not in a crosswalk when she tried to cross the street, died several hours later of her injuries.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene. The crash is under investigation.
