NH man rescued after falling through ice on a river in Dover

DOVER, New Hampshire — A New Hampshire man has been rescued after falling through the ice in the Cocheco River in Dover.

Witnesses saw the man struggling to get out of the icy river on Friday afternoon and called 911.

Officials say he was submerged from the neck down.

Foster's Daily Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/1jj9bFQ ) that emergency crews went into the water and pulled him out.

He was taken to the hospital for possible treatment of hypothermia.

It is believed that the man may have been trying to walk across the frozen river when he fell in.
