2 women killed, 3 children injured in Blount County car wreck

BLOUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Authorities say two people have died and three children have been injured in a head-on collision in Blount County.

AL.com (http://bit.ly/1b8ExOI ) reports 19-year-old Erin Elizabeth Drank of Oneonta and 24-year-old Stevie Ann Thompson of Blountsville were killed Monday morning around 10:25 a.m. when their cars collided head on. They were about 45 miles north of Blountsville.

Authorities say three small children who were riding with Thompson were transported to Children's of Alabama in Birmingham. Thompson was not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers are still investigating the crash.
